Whether it’s negotiating free trade agreements or preparing for the G7 Summit, our mission is to promote British trade across the globe.
In doing so, we can nurture a healthier UK economy for everyone. Create tens of thousands of jobs. And help to enhance global prosperity around the world. So, if you’d like to make a bigger impact, there are few better ways than joining our diverse team.
Who we are
More about us
Here to create a prosperous future for all, our top priorities include securing free trade agreements and reducing barriers to markets. We’re also growing the UK economy by attracting investment from abroad. Not to mention helping British business export their products around the world. Plus, we champion rules-based international trading, run the UK’s own new trading system and protect our businesses from unfair practices.
We deliver all this through teams spread around the world. That’s a network of 108 countries and a structure made up of the Trade Negotiations Group, Trading Systems Group, Strategy and Investment, Exports and UK Trade, UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Corporate Services. Collaborating right across government and Parliament, it’s a fast-moving, global operation, with Darlington right at the heart.

Our vision is to create a fair and open global trading environment. One that supports growth, jobs and higher wages. All so we can help to raise living standards and reduce world poverty. If that sounds like a mission you can get behind, then you’ll love our inclusive, encouraging culture. It’s based on our spirit of ‘One DIT’. A motto designed to help you thrive at work and realise your full potential, whatever your background.
Central to this are our values. To be expert, enterprising, inclusive and engaged. We think they sum us up nicely as people. And if they sum you up too, we’d love to welcome you aboard.
